Congratulations! You’re embarking on the journey towards planning the wedding of your dreams. It may seem a little daunting right now, but the Knotz team is here to help walk you through. For starters, here are some tips to help ease you through the process of picking a bridal studio.

1. Think about the look/theme of your wedding

It’s important to have a dress that matches the setting; if you have a church ceremony, for example, you’ll probably not want to be showing too much skin. If you’re going to be moving around a lot, you may also want a gown that’s more manageable (think shorter trains, maybe avoid a big billowy ballgown) and less tight-fitting.

2. Decide what services you need from the studio

Some of our partner studios only provide dress purchase/rental, but some also offer other related services like photography, videography, make-up, decoration, menswear, etc. Think about whether or not you’d want to engage them for these other services (you’ll be asked to indicate this before confirming the appointment). If you’re only keen on getting the dress from them, don’t be afraid to decline the other add-ons.

3. Have an idea of what you want to try on…

Most studios only provide a fixed time slot for customers to view and try the gowns on. If this is your first visit, the consultant will most likely spend some time getting to know you and your requirements, and sharing a little about what they offer. You’ll probably have time to try on only a few gowns, so it helps to have your style and preferences figured out already. The good news is, Knotz is here to help! With our extensive catalogue and filters, it’s easy to browse a whole range of different dresses to figure out what you like. When you’ve found one (or several) that you really like, book an appointment with the studio, and they’ll have it ready for you to try when you turn up that day!

4. …but keep an open mind!

Everyone has a different body shape, so what looks nice in photos may not always be what looks best on you. Conversely, a dress that you don’t quite fancy when you first see it may just turn out to be the one! (just like dating, right?) Be open to trying different styles, cuts, fabrics, etc and you might surprise yourself.

5. Be considerate

Some bridal studios are open by appointment only, and some may have other appointments on a tight schedule. If you think you won’t be able to make your scheduled appointment, do get in touch to pick another slot.
